Cassidy Frenette
(He/Him/His)
I’m a recent graduate of the Master in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Mount Allison University. My undergraduate thesis research focused on the effects of meditation on attention, which contributed to my broader interest in the relationship between cognition, awareness, and emotional well-being.
I primarily work with adolescents and adults navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I take a flexible, integrative approach to therapy, drawing from different perspectives to tailor the process to each individual and what they are hoping to work on.
At the core of my work is the belief that feeling comfortable, safe, and understood is an essential starting point for therapy. I place a strong emphasis on building a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel able to speak openly, without judgment or pressure to present themselves in a certain way. From there, I aim to support clients in deepening their understanding of themselves, working through challenges, and making changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.
In sessions, I strive to create a space that feels real and collaborative, where you don’t have to filter yourself. While validation and support are central, I also believe therapy should be active and engaging, helping to reflect on patterns, explore new perspectives, and gently challenge things that may be getting in the way of growth. I aim to balance warmth and understanding with thoughtful, respectful challenge when it feels appropriate.
I’m also particularly interested in continuing to develop my expertise in couples therapy, sexual health (including concerns related to paraphilias and sexual functioning), and emerging areas such as psilocybin-assisted therapy.
I’m a recent graduate of the Master in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University, an... Read More
